Cumberland rise to 16 pts

CUMBERLAND FOOTBALL CLUB pushed their points tally to 16 from eight games after carving out a hard fought 1-0 win over McCooks Pen in the Juiciful sponsored St. Catherine Major League at the Cumberland High School playfield recently.

It was Cumberland's fifth win of the season and with three games to go Cumberland need to get three points in every game to assure them a place in the semi-finals.

Cumberland scored from as early as the second minute of play when Clifton Cunningham delivered a through ball that fell to the feet of Omar Henry, who calmly slotted home from point blank range. The half ended 1-0.

The second half saw McCook's Pen, who kept possession well, putting the Cumberland defence under pressure but stalwart defending by the Cumberland backline, led by Marlon Wiggan, prevented them from scoring.

Cumberland's next as-signment is a match at home against Spring Village. Match time is 3:30 p.m.
