STRANGE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUND the murder of Ambassador Peter King O.D. J.P., Ambassador and Special Envoy of Jamaica, after he was found stabbed to death at his home on Waterloo road, St. Andrew yesterday.
Police confirmed there were no signs of forced entry, ruling out the possibility of robbery, as a motive. It was also discovered that King was found in the nude.
"He was found in the nude...the assailant may have attacked him after he stepped out of the shower, but all of this will be thoroughly investigated," said CCN Liaison Officer, Detective Sergeant Jubert Llewellyn.
Reports say about 11:30 a.m., police were alerted to the premises and upon investigations, found King's body. His throat was also slashed.
Police were not able to find any family members, but Crime Chief, Deputy Commissioner Mark Shields, said a man was detained for questioning in connection with the killing. "He has not been charged, but is being detained and is still being interviewed by police. Like any other murder case, this will be investigated thoroughly and with absolutely no speculation," said DCP Shields.
Ambassador King held many outstanding positions, including chairman for Trade Board, chief trade representative of Jamaica, and vice-president of the Jamaicas Manufacturer's Association. He received the Keys to the City of Miami for his contribution to developing hemispheric trade.
