D-Day for 'Zekes'

MATTHEWS LANE RESIDENT 48-year-old Donald 'Zekes' Phipps will know his fate today.

The 12-member jury will retire to decide whether Phipps is guilty or not of a double murder charge. Mr. Justice Horace Marsh will complete his summation to the jury and then send the jury to consider the verdict.

CHARGED WITH MURDER

The trial began on March 6 in the Home Circuit Court. Phipps is charged with the murder of Rodney Leroy Farquharson and Dayton Williams, both of Bayshore Park, eastern Kingston. The burnt bodies with gunshot wounds to the heads were found in an open lot on Rose Lane, downtown, Kingston on April 15 last year.

Phipps has given an unsworn statement in which he has denied the allegations.
