FIVE MEMBERS OF an East Prospect, St. Thomas family, are thanking their lucky stars after narrowly escaping death recently one early morning when a car crashed into their two-bedroom house.
According to police reports, about 12:15 a.m., while some of the occupants of the house were sleeping and others were preparing to go to bed, the Toyota Corolla motor car crashed into the dwelling, stopping between a bedroom and the living room.
Two of the family members, 21-year-old Damion Miller and 17-year-old Sashell James were injured and taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital where they were treated and released. Miller does not recall much of what happened but told THE STAR, "I only see the house tearing apart."
FUNNY SOUND
James, who said she did not live at the house, but was only spending the night, offered a sketchy recollection. "I hear a funny sound and see a car lick into the wall," she remembered.
Miller's grandmother Maud Daley, 90, Kadian Geary and Jentle Miller, who were also at the house, are still in shock. The occupants of the car escaped injury. Several items of furniture including a bed, sofa and television were damaged.
