PATRICK 'THREE HAN Chan' Chang, the former 'poster boy' for the now defunct Jamaica Lottery Company, who is charged along with seven of his employees, will return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on July 6, when his case will again be mentioned.
Chang, 57, and seven of his employees, were arrested and charged on August 2, 2003, following a massive operation carried out by a team from the Jamaica Defence Force, the Financial Protection Division and the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission, at his Lyndhurst Road, St. Andrew, business place. Chang was reportedly selling illegal 'Cash Pot' tickets, a lottery game offered by Supreme Ventures.
The team reportedly recovered several books which allegedly contained daily transactions along with machinery used in the illegal business. Those charged along with Chang are: Lisa Turner, 23; Natasha Graham, 21; John Ziadie, 48; Dilando and Annie Nerhoo; Omar Nerhoo, 33; and Junior Lyn.
All were charged with breaches of the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Act. Chang was slapped with money laundering charges when he appeared in court in August of that year.
When the matter came before Resident Magistrate Georgiana Fraser, a new date was set as all the accused persons turned up for court. It is expected that the trial will continue on that date.
