GLEN HARRIS IS 5 feet, 5 inches tall and has a head of hair longer than he his.
A Rastafarian for more than 30 years, Harris has been growing his locks as a profession of his faith. He said he became a Rastafarian after he dropped out of high school and started to research history.
He said he read about Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and other black leaders and after reviewing history he recognised that the Rastafarian religion was the one for him.
Although his hair weighs a few pounds, Harris said he had his method of washing it and caring for it. "I have a special way of dealing with it. Sometimes I go to the river to wash it and I have a bath pan that I use," he told THE WEEKEND STAR.
His family, including his wife, who reside in Mocho, Clarendon is not bothered by the length of his hair. They make jokes sometimes, but they have accepted that he does not want to cut it. He also noted that none of his three children, had followed in his footsteps, but that did not bother him because they had respected his decision.
"My youngest son attends church. I don't have a problem as long as him know the limit. Him run him joke (about the length of my hair) but that don't bother me," he said.
A retired driver and farmer, the 53-year-old said his hair did not affect his ability to work. "I have a special way of wrapping it, and I get use to it, so it don't affect me," he said.
