ATM card draws man in trouble

BY MICHAEL MCLEAN, STAR Writer

A MAN WHO stole a debit card belonging to his sister and her husband and withdrew over $200,000 from their bank account is to stand trial in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court on July 27.

Marlon Jacobs, 32, of Lititz district, St. Elizabeth, appeared in the court on Tuesday, and was told by Resident Magistrate Andrea Thomas to return to court on that date.

The accused, who was offered bail in the sum of $300,000 on May 25, has is yet to take up the bail offer.

It has been reported that sometime between October and November last year, the accused stole the ATM card from the complainants.

The court was informed that the accused made several trips to the Junction branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia where he withdrew the money from the ATM.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Blake, informed the court that he had photograph evidence to show that the accused visited the machine 29 times.
