DEFENDING CHAMPIONS EASTERN All-Stars and first year entrants Portmore Municipality Colours won the Premier and Major leagues respectively, as the curtain came down on the Wray & Nephew White Overproof skittles competition at Bejon's, Hughenden Plaza, last Sunday.

In the Major League final, Portmore Colours crushed Galaxy 6-0 to take the championship trophy and $40,000 cash prize.

In contrast, the Premier League final was a different kettle, as Eastern All-Stars only got the better of Starliner in the 11th and final game to win 6-5. Starliner appeared to have title within their grasp when racing into a 5-3 lead over their East Kingston opponents. However, Starliner's captain Winston 'Jubby' Nivens failed to seize the initiative at this stage, sending in two of his weaker players, both of whom lost to level the scores at 5-5.

When Nivens decided to play himself in the 11th and final game, he came across opposing captain and former singles champion Fitzroy 'Paul' Blair. Blair proceeded to play some classy shots, turning the last game into a one-sided affair to give his team its third consecutive hold on the Wray & Nephew Trophy.

Eastern All-Stars also took home the cash prize of $60,000, while Starliner secured $30,000 as losing finalists. Blair was presented with the trophy by Wray & Nephew White Overproof Brand Manager, David Hobson.

Meanwhile, preliminary round winners Rowe's Strikers (Premier League) and Waltham Strikers (Major League) took home the Jamaica Electrical Technology (JET) trophies. Alfred Rowe, captain of Rowe's Strikers, received the Major League trophy from Calman Barrett, CEO of JET.

Excel James from Rowe's Strikers and Galaxy's Alex Puranda took the MVP awards for having won most matches in the Premier and Major Leagues, respectively.

Portmore Colours have earned promotion to the Premier League next season, while Track Price Plus have been demoted to the Major League.
