TONY MATTERHORN IS from Mars.
A number of things can be said about this energetic selector but one can not help but admit to his creativity. On the mic Matterhorn is known to bring a crowd to its knees with laughter, on stage the selector has transformed his dynamism to a whole new act.
But Jamaican audiences were introduced to Matterhorn's 'clone' this weekend at the party 'Rum Punch', where 'Matterhorn' professed to have been abducted by men from Mars. The 'Matterhorn' you see now is a clone.
How did this transformation occur? "I want to make it clear, the transformation from selector to artiste", 'Matterhorn' said. "The artiste is not really me, the real Tony Matterhorn got abducted by Martians. The real Matterhorn is in Mars being observed," he said.
He continues "it is easier for them, the audience, to understand the transformation. The person getting hit after hit is the clone, its not me. Matterhorn was abducted, bout last year. Since Dutty Wine came out, its been the clone".
ORIGINAL PERSON
According to him the concept behind the clone came from an Arnold Schwarzenegger film The Sixth Day. "You nuh see in the movie at the end it was the clone the whole time. The clone get more part than the original person. In my case the clone represents for Matterhorn what he would have been doing, the clone get all the hype".
As one lady commented upon seeing the DJ, "is the mad bwoy Matterhorn dat?" According to the DJ its his insanity that got him abducted. He states "the Martians wanted to know how a mental person thinks, what makes me so mad".
He elaborates that it was on one of his many trips overseas that 'Tony Matterhorn' was taken away. He states "it was on my way to England over the Atlantic somewhere past Bermuda that dem abduct me. I went to sleep and woke up a different man". He continues, "man from Mars, I like the concept, it have a new swing".
Although Matterhorn professes to be a transformed person, he says that his life hasn't changed much despite the shift from successful selector to artiste. He says "we do dance affiliated things sed way, it nuh really do nuthing, except I'm being played more".
However the artiste is taking his idea and running with it, forming new nuances to his personality every day. "My new record is to be announced. Just look out for the man from Mars, coming to a planet near you," the clone said.
