Remembering the events of the day her daughter Shauna-Kay Legister died left Shernett Clarke spending the weekend at home feeling afraid.
Shauna-Kay Ledgister, eight, was found with her friend Shaneka Shakes raped and murdered in a canefield in the Town Head district in Burnt Savannah, Westmoreland, on June 30, last year.
The bodies were discovered by a combined search team of residents and police who had been combing the area for signs of the missing children.
Reports are that Shaneka and Shauna-Kay went to school on the Wednesday morning, but left during devotion to take a dress to Shaneka's sister for the school's graduation that was set to take place the following day.
It is suspected that the girls took a short cut located directly behind the school to go to the sister's house, which was nearby. The girls reportedly left the dress at the house and headed back for school but never made it.

One year later, Shernette Clarke wants closure to the whole matter.
"From yesterday (Saturday) a pure bawl mi a bawl 'cause all now mi caan find or hear nutten fi fin' out who kill mi dawta and it feel like a jus' wha day yah she dead," said Clarke.
She said her family has been affected by the death.
"Fi di whole weekend every-body was down. They are here just wondering why it haffi happen to Shauna-Kay. It bad because every turn we turn keep looking for her to come home but she not coming home," she said.
Clarke said although it has been a year she still feels afraid at nights because he daughter's killer is still at large. Clarke adds she stays home at nights as she is afraid she may become a victim of her daughter's killer.
"Mi feel scared still especially at night because di killer is still out there an' mi jus feel seh him might do someting else," she said.
Clarke believes catching her daughter's killer will not bring Shauna-Kay back. But, she wants the killer caught anyway.
"It nah go bring her back but we feel likkle betta because at least we know he won't do this anybody else," she said.
