THE EDITOR, Madam:
HOMOSEXUALITY IS PARTLY biological and partly learned. In my studies of 50 homosexuals (male and female), I found that 38 per cent had homosexual ancestors and a high 68 per cent had no model or influence. One can pick up what is called a recessive gene from distant relatives and as such behave alike and sometimes look similar. Left- handedness may very well be the case of a recessive gene. Those who embrace the notion of freedom of choice must see the flaw in this theory. If not, they should also support bestiality, incest and paedophilia.
Any deviant behaviour can be treated with some sort of therapy. Scientifically, it is said that during early formation of the foetus, a number of changes take place and it is all a matter of chance how we come into the world. For example, all human beings are first female before they can be anything else (lifespan development by John W. Stantroct 1995).
That is the crucial moment of chance sometimes when the female foetus could pick up a lot of maleness or the male foetus can pick up a lot of femaleness. The bottom line is that no human behaviour is above therapy of some sort or another, whether by way of the cognitive or physical.
