Police put dent in car- stealing ring

BY RASBERT TURNER, STAR Writer

SPANISH TOWN:

THE POLICE HAVE put a dent in a stolen motor car ring operating in the Kitson Town and Red Pond area of St. Catherine.

During a two-day operation between July 10 and 11, several police personnel, drawn from the Special Anti-Crime Task Force and the Flying Squad, went into the area and seized several auto parts, including engine transmission, bearings and other parts, from a used parts shop that was operating illegally.

The value of the parts that were seized is estimated to be about $6 million. They are at the Flying Squad headquarters in Kingston for persons to identify them.

A senior investigator told THE STAR that they also have two other vehicles that have been seized for close to two months - a white Toyota Landcruiser and the other, a Honda Accord.
