BRIDGETOWN (CMC):
GUYANA HAS BEEN confirmed as the stand-in hosts of this year's TCL West Indies Under-19 cricket tournament this summer.
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) announced the change on Saturday.
The tournament will now run from August 6 to 31 and will be played under a three-day format covering five rounds of matches.
The top two teams in the points-standings at the end of the round-robin phase will contest the final.
The limited-overs segment of the tournament has been scrapped.
Barbados were originally scheduled to host the tournament but informed the WICB two weeks ago they would have been unable to fulfil their commitments to stage the regional youth championship.
Tony Marshall, president of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA), had said that the "terms and conditions under which the tournament was proposed were not found to be in the best interest of Barbados cricket".
