Artiste of the Month Spice
WESTERN BUREAU:
If her performance were anything to go by, Spice was the epitome of composure, as she internalised the loss of her brother, to deliver a scintillating performance at Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest's Dancehall Night, on Thursday.
Clad in a pink and white lace shorts with matching blouse, and knee-high boots, the deejay took the stage in Montego Bay with six female dancers as she did Fight Ova Man.
The Star's Artiste of the Month was one of three female entertainers billed on the show. The other ladies who represented were veteran deejay, Macka Diamond, and newcomer, Danielle.
Exuding energy and engaging with interactive discussions with the crowd that filled the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre, Spice, born Grace Hamilton, gave a very promising set.
"From wha day di artiste dem a look mi, dem want mi come out ah di business. Dem seh mi too sexy mi shoulda be a model," she joked, much to the delight of her audience.
Spice also belted out her rendition of Celine Dion's Power of Love, which she recoined into a very seductive ballad.
"Tonight I come to show my versatility, a side of me that you all don't know," she said.
This was followed by Fix Me Good, Rude Bwoy Love and Bedroom Story, a tale of lovemaking encounter, an adaptation of Baby Cham's Ghetto Story.
