Bubbler boils - Charged with assault and larceny

Popular dancehall personality Georgia 'Bubbler' Grey did not appear too pleased when she was brought before the Montego Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

She was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and larceny following an altercation with her cousin about a man.

The portly accused became popular in entertainment circles after appearing in several music videos including Mad Anju's Wah Dis Father . On Tuesday she was granted bail in the sum of $80,000 and the matter was referred to mediation for the two to resolve their issues.

The accused is scheduled to return to court on August 30 while the complainant was also bound over for that date.

Punched relative

The allegations are that on July 26, at about 9 p.m., Grey approached her cousin on Barnett Street, and accused her of having an affair with her boyfriend. She is alleged to have proceeded to punch her relative in the left jaw before stealing a gold necklace and a pendant valued at more than $50,000.

The investigating officer told the court that Grey, who has a previous conviction for possession of cocaine, had told them that she would turn in herself and would have taken the necklace with her. However, when she failed to live up to the promise, she was arrested on August 6, when she claimed that she did not have the necklace.

The complainant told Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie that she wants peace between herself and her cousin but said more importantly, she wanted her necklace or the value of it.

Grey is to report to the Mount Salem Police Station, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
