Nursing student allegedly raped

by Tashieka Mair, Star Writer
western bureau

Twenty-four-year-old Lascelles Golding, who allegedly raped a 24-year-old nursing student after she boarded his vehicle, was remanded in custody when he appeared before Resident Magistrate Wilson Smith in the Monetgo Bay RM Court on Wednesday.

Golding, who resides on Sugarmill Road, St. James was remanded until August 16, as his attorney was absent and no bail application could be made on his behalf.

The court heard that the complainant boarded a car being driven by the accused about 5:30 a.m. on July 26. He allegedly told her that he was on his way to Falmouth where she was heading.

abusive

It is further alleged that during the journey he was physically and verbally abusive to the complainant, and instead of driving to Falmouth he went to a house in Rose Hall.

A male passenger who was in the vehicle told the woman to co-operate with the accused saying that he was a 'mad man'.

Mr. Golding allegedly took the complainant into the house where he forced her to perform oral sex before sexually assaulting her.

He then took her near a hotel along the Rose Hall main road where he left her.

The complainant subsequently reported the matter to the Coral Gardens Police Station. Golding was pointed out during an identification parade on August 3.
