After getting help to do a long overdue surgery to treat his cancer, Sidney Palmer's problems are still not over.
A seemingly small figure of $2400 is standing between Palmer and a blood test that needs to be done to determine whether a recent operation was successful.
Palmer was only able to do the surgery after getting help from the Ministry of Health and told the STAR that he has no family to care for him. The 80-year-old, who lives alone and is only occasionally visited by a friend, said his wife went away and he only hears from one of his two children.
Because his son has been out of a job for some time, he has been unable to help his father. Palmer says he often goes without food as the store he once worked in closed six years ago and he has been out of work since.
Palmer is desperately in need of help to come up with the money to pay for the blood test, and would also appreciate donations of food. Anyone wishing to help can call Roxanne, his friend, at 866-4551.
