Jamaicans have long been clamouring for a sex offenders registry, and this lobbying has intensified with the recent cases that have flooded the media.
Many believe that a sex offenders registry will help the police to better monitor those convicted of the atrocious acts and it is also believed that citizens will be better able to protect their families if they knew who the registered offenders were.
In order to get a better feel of just how the public feels about such a proposition, we asked:
Do you think the government should institute a programme to register convicted sex offenders so that the police and public can know who they are?
A whopping 86 per cent said they would love for this policy to be implemented. Many obviously feel that such a move would help to reduce the rate at which these acts are committed.
