THE IN-FORM Runako Morton cracked another hundred but West Indies A ended their beleaguered summer tour of England on a losing note yesterday, going down by 62 runs in their one-day match against Hampshire at The Rose Bowl.

Sent to bat, Hampshire got an aggressive hundred from Chris Benham and made 292 for eight.

West Indies A responded with 230 for eight off their allotted 50 overs to finish their fixtures with only one victory from 10 games.

Morton stroked 102, but Omari Banks (39) was the only other significant scorer for the tourists, who failed to win a game since their opening three-dayer against Durham on July 23.

Benham sped to 122 from 145 balls with 16 boundaries to lift Hampshire to their daunting total.

He and Mike Brown (44) put on 122 for the first wicket setting a match-winning foundation for the English county side, whose regular captain and Australian bowling star Shane Warne missed the game.

There was a middle-order stutter for Hampshire as four wickets fell for 37, but Mitchell Stokes, batting at No.6, lashed 36 off 18 balls and captain Shaun Udal had an unbeaten 32 not out from just 11 balls to boost their late-order effort.

Expensive Powell

Pacer Daren Powell was expensive as the most successful bowler with three for 74 off his 10 overs.

Set 293 to win, Windies A got off to a terrible start and lost Lendl Simmons (1) and captain Sylvester Joseph (0) to be four for two.

Morton, who scored a hundred and two fifties in the First-Class matches on tour and also logged big knocks in one-dayers against Durham (105), Derbyshire (95) and Glamorgan (89), continued his fruitful tour.

He struck seven fours and two sixes in his 117-ball 102 that lasted 163 minutes before he was seventh out at 206.

Pacer James Bruce did the damage to the top order, grabbing three for 14 from seven overs, and the off-spinner Greg Lamb supported well with three for 32 off eight overs.

From their team that drew a rain-ruined three-dayer against Nottinghamshire that ended on Friday, the West Indies reserves made two changes - replacing batsman Devon Smith and fast bowler Andrew Richardson, with Ryan Hinds and Banks.

West Indies reserves finished their tour with a record of one win, five losses, two draws and two no-results.
