New York businessman faces court on Tuesday

A businessman who was wanted by the New York police on drug charges, and who was captured by local authorities at Caymanas Park on Saturday, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

When he appeared before RM Martin Gayle, for an extradition hearing, Garfield Hudson, volunteered to leave the island on the "next flight." He told the court that contrary to what was alleged, he never pleaded guilty to the charges against him in the U.S. and said he only appeared in court once when he was granted bail.

He told the court, " I never went to court, I never pleaded guilty and I never faced a judge." He however admitted that he did not return to court.

The former resident of Orange Bay, Hanover and Long Mountain, St. Andrew, has allegedly been on the run for nine years. While RM Gayle said he could not promise that Hudson would leave on the next flight, he said arrangements would be made to send him away.

Upon hearing that he would be allowed to leave, Hudson told the court, "Now I will go to court."
