A warrant was ordered for the investigating officer in the case against a former manager of Mr. Tyre, Courtney Hamilton, who is charged with conspiracy to defraud and fraudulent conversion, after the officer failed to show up at court to present outstanding statements.
Outstanding statements
The officer was bound over on the last court date to return to the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday to present the outstanding statements.
However, when he did not show up for the matter, RM Carolyn Tie gave the order that a bench warrant be issued.
Hamilton, who is from Coopers Hill, in St. James, was previously before the court in May to answer charges of defrauding his employers of $97,000 worth of tyres.
He is scheduled to return to court on September 21.
Allegations are that between February and March, he signed delivery slips on behalf of Mr. Tyre indicating that he received tyres valued at $97,000. An audit carried out in April allegedly showed that he conspired with others to sell the tyres which were received on the company's account.
The Area One Fraud Squad was called in and he was arrested on May 12. He was subsequently granted bail in the sum of $100,000.
