Alleged gunman didn't know his tool

by Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer

spanish town

Gary Williams, 35, shocked the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday when he appeared on gun charges, when he remarked, "mi no know di name a di gun, but me did 'ave it."

Following the statement a concerned looking Resident Magistrate Lorna E. Gayle asked the investigating officer to outline fully what had happened. According to the police on September 1, at about 7 p.m. Willliams was a passenger in a vehicle travelling along Jobs Lane in St. Catherine when it was stopped. He was searched and a 9 mm Browning pistol, with the serial number erased was alleged to have been taken from him. He was subsequently charged.

After the allegations were read out in court Williams was ordered remanded until September 22, when he will appear in the gun court to answer to the charge.
