Ras Myrhdak the new 'Warriah'

Ras Myrhdak - Contributed

St. Ann, a parish known for reggae greats like Bob Marley, Burning Spear and Barrington Levy has produced another great talent now on the rise.

He is, Stephon Moulton more popularly known as Ras Myrhdak.

Myrhdak's interest in music started at the tender age of 8 when he began singing bass at church in his mother's choir. As he grew older his love for music never changed, but grew more. While attending Brown's Town Comprehensive High School, Myrhdak's ability to DJ was seen and appreciated by his peers. Myrhdak learnt that in order to be successful in music he had to move from St. Ann to Kingston to pursue this career.

In 1997 he linked up with producer Phillip Thomas where he did a couple of singles likeHot Bwoy and Gal A SayMyrhdak on the Shark label that was distributed by Greensleeves Company. With the successes of these singles he later linked up with Annetta Brewster-Aitken, his manager.

"I have been managing Ras Myrhdak since '98, it was Casper 'Gary Ghost' who introduced him to me and since that time Ras Myrhdak has matured in this business of music. He has excelled as a writer/lyricist. He can DJ, chant, sing, rap and dance and has a good ear for music, he is what you would call a versatile artiste." Aitken stated.

Myrhdak has worked with other producers like King Jammys, Bobby Digital, Kings of Kings, Mixing Magic Finga Stewart and Gemstar Production. Some of Myrhdak's latest singles include Camille, All I Do, You Love Me, Real Hearts, Nutten Inna Babylon, That's True, Be Your King and Ras In Love.

He has also made numerous appearances on shows like Sting, East Fest and Bob Marley Day 2004 US West Coast Tour where he was backed by Sly and Robbie. Myrhdak has also performed in Cleveland, Ohio along with well-known reggae artistes such as Sizzla and Fifth Element. The public can listen out for a lot from this young 'Warriah' who is currently in studio working on his upcoming album entitled Passion Of A Blaque Warriah that is expected to be released later this year.
