A new witness has come forward in the case against 23- year-old Anthony Christie, of Bottom Pen, St. James, who is charged with the murder of Davel Taylor in the community.
The case was adjourned sine die in August after the main eyewitness could not be located.
However, Christie was served a new summons to return to court after another witness gave a statement to the police.
The sick-out by rank-and-file policemen and women prevented the accused man, who was to appear before the Montego Bay RM Court for ganja possession, from being brought to court on Wednesday. A new date of September 27 was given for him to appear in court.
Christie was arrested on January 25 and first appeared before the court in February. After five preliminary dates and a missing eyewitness, the case was adjourned.
The missing witness alleges to have heard an explosion three minutes after Christie and another man pulled Taylor into a lane following an altercation on January 22 of this year.
The deceased was later found with a gunshot wound to the neck and to the back of the head.
