Eltham whip Camperdown 3-0

Eltham High pounded previously unbeaten Camper-down 3-0 to secure sole leadership of Group D in ISSA/Pepsi/JN Manning Cup action at Eltham High yesterday.

Eltham skipper Tremaine Stewart put his team ahead with a fierce 13th minute free kick, and added another in the 89th while substitute Shevar Brown netted in the 69th minute.

Eltham are now on 13 points while Camperdown slip to third on six points following a 4-0 triumph by Campion, now in second place with seven points, over winless Kingston High.

In Group B a 59th-minute strike from Kimarlie Brissett not only saw Norman Manley slip by Spanish Town 1-0, but also saw them rise to the top of the group on 10 points one ahead of Spanish town. At the Spanish Town Prison Oval, goals from Sherman Johnson, Ronald Lopez and Ranique Muir carried Donald Quarrie High who are in third place on six points to a 3-0 victory over St. Jago

Early start

Johnson pounced on a cross in the 10th minute to give his team a 1-0 half-time lead. On the resumption, Donald Quarrie team continued to pressure the Jago mid-field and defence with several good passes among Romario Wright, Keith Simpson and Johnson.

They went further ahead in the 64th minute when Lopez went clear and beat the advancing goalkeeper with a left foot shot. Five minutes before the end Muir shook off his marker to complete the scoring.

Owen Wright of Donald Quarrie was full of praise for his players. "I feel very good as they played according to instructions. They played a balanced game and that's why we come out victorious today."

In group F Kingston College remain in third place despite a 1-1 draw with second place Bridge-port at Ferdie Neita Park. Both teams are on five points and trail run-away group leaders Wolmer's who are out in front with 10. In the day's other Group F game fourth placed Ardenne notched their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Pembroke Hall.
