Woman faces four counts of fraud

A 26-year-old woman who has been charged with four counts of fraudulent conversion, pleaded guilty to only one count when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Melissa Morgan, a debt collector of a Kingston 6 address, admitted to only knowing about one of the cases that she had been prosecuted for. Morgan, who is employed as a personal assistant to the director of a company, was responsible for collecting debts on the director's behalf. Upon collection, a receipt is normally submitted to the client, and a copy is handed to the company.

It was reportedly discovered that four persons had paid her money amounting to $110,000 that had not been handed over to the company. A report was made to the Fraud Squad, and after being interrogated, Morgan was charged.

She is to be sentenced on one count on October 19, and the other matters against her will also be mentioned on this date.
