Taxi stand construction lags behind schedule

By Elgin Taylor, Star Writer

Lluidas Vale, St. Catherine

The construction of a taxi stand by the Nanational Works Agency on Forte Street in Linstead, St. Catherine, is lagging behind schedule.

Groundbreaking for the facility was done on March 24 this year by Robert Pickersgill, Minister of Transport and Works, and Member of Parliament for the constituency.

The minister promised then that the project would have been finished within 10 weeks. To date the parking bays are yet to be completed.

Other sections earmarked for construction include sanitary conveniences, covered waiting areas and perimeter fencing.

It is envisioned that with the completion of the project the long standing problem of traffic congestion in the town will be eased.

At the time of publication the National Works Agency could not be reached for comments.
