A man who allegedly slapped a female passenger in the face because she did not pay her fare when he demanded, was remanded and is expected to have additional charges laid against him by Monday.
Daniel Nelson, 42, higgler of Mountain View Avenue, is currently facing the charge of assaulting a female, however after the allegations were read in court, Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered that he be kept in custody and the officer is to lay additional charges against him. "You know what you did is abduction," she asked the complainant.
Allegations are that on October 18, at 7:30 p.m., the accused was operating a taxi, which the 38-year-old complainant boarded in Cross Roads. The accused reportedly asked all the passengers for fares, which everybody except the complainant paid. The complainant allegedly told the accused that she was not going to pay her fare yet as she had not yet arrived at her destination.
The accused allegedly continued to drive the taxi while cursing the complainant. The other passengers each got off the taxi at their different spots. The final passengers exited the taxi at the traffic lights at the corner of Tom Redcam Avenue and Arthur Wint Drive leaving behind the complainant and the accused.
