Woman held in armed robbery

By Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

spanish town

The Linstead Police in St. Catherine are now looking for four men who robbed a truck with goods on Thursday. They have, however, taken one woman in custody in connection with the robbery and have recovery of a firearm.

Reports from the police are that about 10 a.m. a truck laden with goods was travelling from St. Ann, when, upon reaching a section of the Mount Rosser main road, men in a motor car commandeered the truck in the Rose Mount area.

The police, who got wind of the robbery, accosted and chased the robbers with help from personnel from St. Ann. Men from the car fired several shots at the lawmen and ran and escaped. The female occupant of the vehicle was held along with a 9mm pistol.

The truck and the goods were also recovered. The Linstead police have since launched a manhunt for the other culprit and are now investigating what level of participation the female in custody might have had.
