Unholy devils

The lead story in last Saturday's STAR told the story of a self-professed evangelist who allegedly robbed a church in Bog Walk.

The man is accused of visiting the church earlier in the day and telling members that he was an evangelist. He is further accused of returning to the church, at about midnight, and stealing amplifiers and appliances valuing about $70,000. If the accusations are true, it means that persons need to be wary of persons who say they come in the name of Christ.

Many criminals have used the name of the Lord to cover up their evil deeds and it is no secret that many of those who say they are believers are nothing but wolves in sheep's clothing. Though we are not sure if this particular man is guilty, there is no doubt that there are many others who hide under the guise of being saved.

A story published recently in The STAR gave the chilling tale of a young college student who barely escaped being raped by a taxi driver who had been playing and singing along to loud gospel music. He tricked the girl into thinking that he was a decent Christian, but as soon as he got the chance, he tried to attack her.

This is not so say that there aren't true Christians who abide by the rules set out in the Bible, as some do exist. However, we must remember that not all are who they say they are, and many use Christianity as a shield.
