Need a proper pedestrian crossing

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I see sections of the Falmouth Hospital are been renovated, a new police station is being built and a new fire station is been built.

Mr. Editor, would you believe that in all of this development in Falmouth, the Government can't find money to upgrade a pedestrian crossing?

Yes Mr. Editor, that pedestrian crossing on Duke Street near Pitt Street in Falmouth, Trelawny, has been in a deplorable condition for many years.

Everyday, many adults and vast numbers of children use that crossing. The facility also needs a warden.

I'm calling on the boards and the administration of the Falmouth Infant and All-Age schools to wake up! Telling your education officer about the deplorable condition of this vital facility is not enough. You need to get on the air waves and demand that the facility be renovated as soon as possible. You also need to demand that a warden be placed at that facility.

Come on politicians, show that you really care for people and renovate the pedestrian crossings across the island, put a proper maintenance system in place and put wardens where necessary.

I am, etc.,

HUGH ANDERSON BLAIR
