Ardenne High and Camperdown High will contest the final of the ISSA/Malta urban Under-14 football competition following semi-final victories yesterday at Campion.
Ardenne defeated Norman Manley 2-1 while Camperdown edged Kingston College (KC) 1-0
In the opening game, Ardenne's Christopher Campbell gave his team the lead in the ninth minute when he fired home from close range. David Madden doubled Ardenne's lead in the 18th minute with a powerful left-footed shot past the goalkeeper. Dinardo Taylor scored Norman Manley's goal in the 22nd minute.
All important goal
Meanwhile, substitute Richard Lemonious got the all-important goal for Camperdown in the 57th minute when he headed home a well-placed cross from teammate Charles Williams.
Earlier, KC dominated the first half but squandered numerous clear-cut chances. Taval Whittaker, André Smith and Negus Bogle were all guilty of missing easy chances. Camperdown's best chance fell to Aldane Livingston but he shot wide of the target.
On the resumption, Camperdown came out looking the better team and were rewarded when coach Norman Reid brought on Lemoniuos. With his first touch he ran between two defenders to head home the game's winning goal.
"It was a hard-fought victory," said Reid.
"They came at us in the first half and we soak up the pressure and we brought on our secret weapon and we got the goal,"Reid said.
Lawrence Passley, coach of KC said: "Today is the worst I have seen the team play since the beginning the season."
