WESTERN BUREAU:
A 19-year-old man, said to be a member of the notorious Stone Crusher gang in Montego Bay, who is answering charges of murder, will not be spending Christmas with his family.
Michael Herron of Glendevon, St. James, was remanded in custody until January 10 when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Herron is now being represented by attorney-at-law Dalton Reid.
In his bail application, Mr. Reid told Resident Magistrate Wilson Smith that his client and the deceased, Albert Forrester, were friends and that he had no reason to want to kill him.
The court had heard, however, that the offence took place in the day and that the witnesses know the accused man well enough to identify him.
Seeking crony
The police is still seeking Herron's crony, Rohan Gordon, who has also been implicated in the murder. Gordon has been listed as one of the most wanted men by the St. James police.
RM Smith denied bail saying that there was nothing in the defence's case that was convincing enough for him to positively consider the application.
Allegations are that on November 3, Herron and Gordon approached Forrester, who was walking along the Bottom Pen main road.
It is alleged that Herron pulled a gun from the right side of his waistband and fired in the direction of Forrester. Forrester ran and was chased and shot. He collapsed in a nearby yard.
