The Inter-school Brigade of St Catherine officially launched its 6th one week camping at the Bog Walk High School where 187 challenged students is to under-go training.
The training which is facilitated by the St Catherine North and South police is seeking to put the challenged students in good stead.
Guest speaker for the event Superintendent Harry Daley of the St Catherine North Division told the participants that although they are said to have deviant behaviour in school, it is not the end of the world. With the necessary training in life coping skills, they can become assets to society.
He told them he is also from a poor background and through discipline, life is looking up. In an an interview with the STAR, Daley said that the students are drawn from Spanish Town High, Ascot High, Greater Portmore, Innswood, Eltham and Bridgeport High School. He added that they will be taught first aid, good health habits and that resource persons will be there to facilitate the training.
In ending, he said it is his way of giving back to society the youths that are fast becoming victims of violence and crime. The participants span the age group 12 to 15 years old.
