Veteran
radio broadcast journalist Neville Willoughby
died in hospital this morning after sustaining
injuries in a traffic accident last night.
According to the Constabulary Communication
Network (CCN), the popular journalist
who is employed to Radio Jamaica (RJR),
was travelling in a grey Mitsubishi Buzz
motorcar along Fairwell Avenue, St. Andrew,
when the accident occurred.
Reports are that, approximately 8:15 p.m.,
Willoughby's car arrived at the intersection
with Molynes Road and there was a collision
with a 1992 grey BMW motor vehicle. Willoughby,
who was seriously injured, was taken to
the University of West Indies Hospital
by the police.
The other driver sustained no injuries
and the police say he is being warned
for prosecution.
Willoughby, who was born in 1937, has
been known to Jamaicans for his years
of work on 'The Evening People Show' on
RJR.
He is also known for what some say is
one of the best interviews with the late
reggae legend Bob Marley.
