A man who allegedly beat and chopped another man with a machete, was told he was lucky when he appeared before Resident Magistrate Winsome Henry in the Montego Bay RM Court on Wednesday.
However, Christopher Headed of Tower Hill, St. James, had conditions added to his $50,000 station bail including one that he reports to the Anchovy Police on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The accused man is booked to return to court on January 24.
He was also warned to stay away from the complainant who was still recovering from the injuries he sustained during the attack.
"You're lucky you're on bail," said RM Winsome Henry, observing that he should never have been given bail for such a
serious offence.
The complainant alleges that on December 15 he went to a shop in Tower Hill where the accused and other man held him and beat him with a machete until the weapon broke. It is said that he tried to escape by jumping over a wall, but injured his head. He was also stoned.
The complainant allegedly ran into a house where the men chased him and chopped him. Headed was arrested five days later.
