American singer Macy Gray had to apologise to the Barbadian people on Wednesday for a using a string of expletives during her performance at the jazz festival there.
Gray was performing as part of the Barbados Annual Jazz show at the Garfield Sobers Auditorium on Wednesday night. The first part of her performance went over well with the audience, however, as it drew to a close, Gray cursed a string of expletives which appeared to be a part of a song she was performing.
The obscene action only earned the wrath of some audience members and the police who immediately spoke with some members of her technical team. However, she was allowed to complete her performance.
Post-press conference delayed
The post-press conference was delayed while the police, the promoter and Gray's road manager discussed the situation. Following the discussion, the decision was taken not to prosecute Gray for the offence.
however, promoter of the show, Gilbert Rowe, who is promoter of GMR Tours Limited, told members of the international press that he was sorry about the incident.
He said it had never happened before and he always made it clear to artistes that this sort of behaviour would not be tolerated. Gray and her manager, who also spoke at the press conference, also apologised for the incident.
Gray said she did not know her actions would have had such serious implications and apologised unreservedly to the people of Barbados for her actions.
