Teachers protest bad road

By Elgin Taylor, Star Writer

lluidas vale, st. catherine

Teachers at Bois Content All-Age School in West Central St. Catherine stayed away from classes for two straight days last Monday and Tuesday, as a result of the poor condition of the road leading up to their school.

Principal of the institution, Winfield Wright, told THE STAR that he has been the principal of the institution for the past 18 years, and has never seen any repairs done to the stretch of road during that time.

He said that on occasions in the past he, along with the male students and community members, have used cement to effect minor repairs. The length of the roadway is about 400 metres.

Mr. Wright bemoaned the fact that nothing has been done by the authorities to remedy the situation despite numerous approaches by the school's management over this protracted period.

He reported that the parents have been sending out most of the students, and that he, along with the prefects, have been conducting classes.

The teachers reportedly resumed classes on Wednesday.
