Honest, true soul music, the sound of singer Anthony Hamilton can get the blood stirring. With his first appearance in Jamaica at the Jazz and Blues festival held at the Aqueduct, Rose Hall, Hamilton won over fans to his unique style of music.
With the release of his latest album Ain't Nobody Worryin, Hamilton said in an interview posted on www.airjamaicajazzandblues.com "I didn't approach doing this new record with the intention of outdoing the last album. I wanted it to have the same amount of quality, putting raw emotions and experiences to music..." As Hamilton told The STAR, "my second album, its doing really well I know it went gold already so its probably mozzing on somewhere."
At the festival, patrons drew near upon hearing Anthony's smooth voice belting out his soulful lyrics. Hamilton said he felt great to be at the event and vowed to satisfy.
"I feel really honoured and I'm gonna make them appreciate it cause I ain't gonna go anywhere 'till they start liking it", he said. As Hamilton walked off stage late Saturday night it was obvious by the applause that he had achieved his goal.
According to Hamilton, music is where he is supposed to be, feeling a sense of belonging as a singer. He says he is also a fan of reggae music. "Oh yeah of course, I love it (reggae music), I'm a big fan of Luciano and I definitely gonna work with him. I love Beres Hammond, I like the roots but I enjoy Shaggy, Sean Paul" he said.
Jazz and Blues is just another corner in an already highly successful career, as Hamilton has tons on his platter musically and otherwise. "I recently did a song for Keyshia Cole on her new album; also I did a part in a new movie with Denzel Washington, called American Gangsta, with Denzel, Ti and Common. It's supposed to come out later this year."
