Schoolgirls taken into custody for fighting

By Michael McLean, Star Writer

The police from the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth, had to intervene to part a fight between two female students of the Maggotty High School in the parish recently.

The two students, who appeared to be in their early teens, started fighting after they were reportedly involved in an argument over a man.

The girls, dressed in their maroon and white uniforms, held each other in front of the Santa Cruz Plaza and exchanged punches while they were surrounded by a large crowd.

The police who were on foot patrol, observed what was taking place and tried to stop the fighting but the teens persisted. An inspector had to restrain them and they were taken to the Santa Cruz Police Station.

Two men who got themselves involved in the confrontation were also taken into custody but were warned and released.
