Jamaica lead on first innings

St. Elizabeth

Dave Mohammed and Amit Jaggernauth gave Jamaica a scare on yesterday's second day of the Carib Beer Series match at Alpart.

The two carried Trinidad and Tobago well within reach of erasing Jamaica's total of 254 runs but fell short by 19 runs.

Scores: Jamaica 254 and 26-1. Trinidad and Tobago 236.

Trinidad recovered from 89 for six at lunch to reach 220 for nine at tea as Jerome Taylor three for 64, Jermaine Lawson three for 66 and Darren Powell two for 39 destroyed the visitors' top order. Mohammed and Jaggernauth put up a good fight and featured in a ninth wicket stand of 97 runs.

Mohammed hit eight fours and two sixes in making an unbeaten 74. He batted for 89 minutes and faced 139 balls while Jaggernauth (25) spent 88 minutes at the crease and faced 100 balls.

Jamaica will resume today with a lead of 45 runs after ending yesterday on 26 for one.
