The house of a man, who is accused of killing a student in a hit-and-run incident, was burnt down in a suspected case of arson yesterday.
At about 6:30 a.m., residents near Ensom City saw the man's house on fire, and called the Spanish Town Fire Department. The fire was eventually put out but not before the two-apartment house and its contents were destroyed.
It is not known if the house was insured and the value was not ascertained. Inspector Patrick Murdock, head of the St Catherine North Traffic Division, says that he is appealing to the accused man to turn himself over to the police so that investigations can be done.
Allegations are that at about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jameka Johnson, Sean Cole and Zena Sinclair, all 11 years old, were walking along lower Nugent Street in Spanish Town, when upon reaching near the Buck Town entrance, they were hit by a car travelling towards Ensom City.
They were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where Zena died while undergoing treatment.
The driver of the car is said to have ran from the scene.
