MALVERN, ST. ELIZABETH:
Tanya and Sanya Alcott do not sit together while at school. And, both girls will tell you that that small moment of separation is unimportant because they have each other whenever they are at home.
Tanya and Sanya were born on October 15, 1998 to parents Yvonne Rhoden and Devon Alcott. They hail from Windsor, in South East St. Elizabeth, and attend the Siloah Primary School in that parish where they are in grade three.
Sanya, who proudly told THE STAR Life and Times that she was the first to be born, said she is minutes older than her sister, and, therefore, she is Tanya's elder sister. Tanya said that it did not matter who was the first to be born, because one thing that is clear to her, is that they were born the same day.
Victor
Tanya said she loves Sanya very much but added sometimes they both get into fights. Sanya, who is said to be the more aggressive of the two, is reportedly the one who usually comes out the victor when they have their little squabbles. However, the important thing for the sisters is that very quickly after their encounters they become friends again
Like many persons, the two have their favourites. Tanya's favourite colour is green, while for Sanya, it is blue. However, they have no
special reason why they prefer those colours. Like many twins, they sometimes dress alike. However, as far as food is
concerned, there is no difference in what they like to eat. They both said they loved rice and peas and
chicken and were fond of mangoes.
As far as career path is
concerned, the two differ slightly. Although they want to work in the health industry, Tanya pointed out that she wants to be a doctor, while Sanya wants to be a nurse. Tanya's reason for wanting to be a doctor has come, according to her, out of the need to have the many persons who are ill, attended to.
"There are too many sick persons around who are in need of help and no one seems to be paying them attention. I believe if I get trained as a doctor, that I will be able to look after them," stated Tanya. Similar sentiments were shared by Sanya.
Like many twins, the two stated that from time to time persons
mistake one for the other. However, they said their parents do not have a difficulty identifying them, as Sanya has a distinguishing mark on the right side of her face.
