After an exciting game of 'cat and mouse', Dinthill Technical High snatched the victory from Bridgeport High, in a commendable come -from -behind win in TVJ's Schools Challenge Quiz Competition yesterday.

All three segments of the match were evenly contested and it was clear that both teams had their eyes on the prize. Though both seemed nervous at the start of the match, their confidence grew as the match progressed. At the end of the first section, Dinthill had eight points while Bridgeport followed closely on seven.

Section two however, was not as memorable as both teams failed to capitalise on the potential to greatly maximise their lead.

Dinthill gained the most points in their first minute, while Bridge-port's strongest performance came in their second minute. The performances in the other minutes however, were less than impressive. At the end of this segment, Dinthill stood on 19, while Bridgeport was on 18.

The third section did not start off well for Dinthill as they lost three points for incorrect answers that were initially thought to be correct by the judges. This did not deter them much however and perhaps made them more determined. This section proved to be the most exciting of the match and the audience members were kept at the edge of their seats until the sound of the final bell.

The last two questions proved to be Dinthill's saving grace as the points they gained from answering correctly, ensured their victory.

At the end of the match, the scores were Dinthill Technical on 28, and Bridgeport High on 26.

Coach of the Bridgeport team, Felicia Grey, was proud of her team. She said, "They played well. It was a difficult match as the difficulty in playing at this stage is that it is almost in round two and the nature of the questions is different. But overall, they did well, I believe."

Ssyade Gayle, Dinthill's coach, was happy for the win and vowed to put in more work.

He said,"They started out a little shaky, but they gained some composure in the second section. We were set back a little when we lost a few points. But because they had the will power and thanks to God, we came out victorious. But its back to the drawing board for the next match."

The Bridgeport team : Julene Francis (capt.), Rennae Davis, Dionne Campbell, Dwayne Hannam.

The Dinthill Technical High team : Peter - John Rowe (capt.), Kerron Thompson, Chenee Cytall, Omar Francis.

Next match : Jose Marti vs Ardenne
