Jamaica squad ready for Lunar New Year Cup

KINGSTON, Jamaica ((CMC)

Jamaica's new technical director Bora Milutinovic yesterday finalised his 20-man squad to participate in the 2007 Lunar New Year Cup in Hong Kong.

Consisting of mostly Under-23 players, the squad features six senior players in goalkeepers Richard McCallum and Allien Whittaker, along with Oneil Smith, Donald Stewart, Lovel Palmer and Kavin Bryan.

The Under-23 players will use the tournament, scheduled for February 18-21, as preparation for the Pan American Games in Brazil in July 2007 and the 2008 Olympic Games qualifiers.

In the tournament, Jamaica will be joined by first-timers Australia, China, Jamaica, and hosts Hong Kong.

The team leaves the island this evening.

SQUAD: Richard McCallum, Allien Whittaker (goalkeepers), Xavian Virgo, Oneil Smith, Jermaine Taylor, Dwayne Williams, Jeff Pearce, Adrian Reid, Nicora Plummer, Mario Harrison (defenders), Nicholy Finlayson, Mario Swaby, Demar Phillips (defenders/midfielders), Donald Stewart, Lovel Palmer (midfielders), Donavan Davis, Fabian Taylor (forward/midfielders), Horace Howell, Steven Morrissey and Kavin Bryan (forwards).
