A 25-year-old woman who the police claimed passed out an illegal gun at the Central Village Police Station was remanded when she appeared in the Spanish Town RM. Court on gun-related charges on Tuesday.
The woman, Kimesha Blake, of a Greater Portmore address was held by the police on February 1 during a search. According to investigators, they found a quantity of assorted ammunition at the house where Blake and a male companion lived. Both were taken into custody.
The man was left at Portmore Police Station (100 man) and Blake was taken to Central Village. Upon her arrival, her behaviour arose the suspicion of police on duty as she kept asking to use the bathroom and did not wanted to be escorted there.
However, a woman corporal insisted and took her to the bathroom. While she was taking off her clothes, to use the bathroom, the cop observed a black plastic bag protruding from between her legs. The bag was retrieved and found to contain .38 revolver along with six live rounds of ammunition. She was further charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
When she appeared in court, she pleaded not guilty. Her attorney told the court that his client is not guilty of any offence that the police is putting forward. Having heard the allegations however, the RM remanded Blake until February 23 when she is to reappear in the Gun Court division to answer to the charges. Her co-accused is to face an identification parade. She also warned the police to be careful when they are apprehending male or female suspects as they could been killed had she been a violent person.
