Jamaica's Young Reggae Boyz finished last in Group B as the 2007 CONCACAF Under-20 final round play-off ended at the Banorte Stadium in Mexico on Sunday night.
With only pride to play for following two 2-0 defeats by Costa Rico and Mexico, Jamaica were held to a 1-1 draw by Caribbean neighbours St. Kitts and Nevis in the opening match of the final double-header.
British-based Joel Grant put Jamaica ahead in the 36th minute, but St. Kitts equalised 13 minutes from time with a goal by Matthew Berkeley. Both teams ended the four-team round with one point, but St. Kitts scored more goals. They had three while Grant got the only goal for Jamaica.
In the opening match 2007 Under-20 World Cup qualifiers Mexico and Costa Rico played to a 1-1 draw. The result meant that Mexico topped the group with a plus four goal difference after both countries ended with seven points. The hosts scored five goals and conceded one, while Costa Rica tally was six for and three against and a plus three goal difference.
The crowd of 19,051 saw Jean Carlos Solorzano give Costa Rica a 1-0 lead in the opening six minutes of the match but Enrique Esqueda scored the equaliser in the 70th minute for Mexico.
Mexico and Costa Rica join Panama and the United States from Group A along with the hosts Canada at the FIFA event that will run June 30-July 12.
