One less gun in Rema

Police from the Kingston West Division managed to thwart what residents believe was a planned attack on the community of Rema on Wednesday evening. In the process, an illegal firearm was recovered.

According to reports, at about 5:50 p.m., the police responded to heavy gunfire in the Race Course Lane area of Wilton Gardens, more popularly known as Rema. The accused, 27-year-old Roger Oral Stewart, otherwise called 'Cojack', was seen with a firearm and was chased into a building. He was held and searched and a Maverick model 88 12-gauge shot gun was taken from him. He was also found with 27 12-gauge cartridges.

Residents of the area have reportedly become fearful since the attack and police patrols in the area have been intensified.
