A medical doctor who was charged with indecent assault was freed when he appeared in the Spanish Town RM Court on March 9 after it was ruled that the evidence against him was insufficient.
The court was told that Dr. Paul Robinson allegedly fondled a nurse who worked with him in June 2005.
It is alleged that on the day in question, Robinson touched the nurse in an inappropriate manner and when she turned down his advances, he punched her. The matter was reported to the police and the doctor was charged. When the case was called up before Resident Magistrate Sharon George, the RM told the complainant that the allegations against the doctor were ambiguous and so she had doubts about the case. She said because of this, she had no alternative but to give the benefit of the doubt to Dr. Robinson.
The doctor was told that he was free to go but must return to court on April 2, to answer to the charge of assault occasioning bodily harm for punching the nurse.
