Starting Monday, April 2, THE STAR will be running its new and exciting short story called The Sun Also Rises.
The story is about Rose Dixon, a mother and a teacher struggling to raise a wayward son, while being forced to put up with a cheating and abusive husband who no longer loves her, and shows it in every way.
She also has to put up with a nagging though well-meaning mother.
The story has many twists and turns and although Rose is well intentioned, Rose cannot prevent a series of events from happening.
Today, we talk to cast member Rainford Campbell who plays Mark Dixon, Rose's husband.
You can also be a part of the experience by sending us your feedback to star@gleanerjm.com or sending a short text message about the story to 467-2165. NO calls will be accepted on this number.
CHARACTER: Mark Dixon
REAL NAME: Rainford Campbell
WHY HE WANTED TO BE A PART ?: "I was curious to find out what it was about and I needed the experience. You know, as Jamaicans we are curious and I was curious as well so that's why."
MOST CHALLENGING SHOT: "I would say none because I took them as they came."
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR CHARACTER?: (Laughs) "A dedicated person who looks out for his family and wants the best for them (THE STAR: although he cheated and almost abused his wife?) I still think he wanted the best for them and was dedicated to them."
OTHER PART HE WOULD HAVE PLAYED: "It would be that of Dennis, my son, because I think it would have been fun and I like those sort of things."
DID YOU EXPECT TO BE GIVEN A PART?: "No. I didn't, based on the number of persons who I thought would respond and because it took so long to get a call so I didn't expect to be there."
HOPES AND DREAMS: "Well, I wanted the exposure and so I hope I will get the opportunity to do other things like this."
